Kerri to enter the boxing ring...

In partnership with Maxim magazine, City Warriors are putting on the biggest Model Boxing Night in the history of Great Britain. 16 models, 6 months intensive training, 8 fights on the night, and one championship belt winner!

Kerri will be taking part this November 10th 2011, fighting in front of 3000 people at the Troxy in London. Fighting comes naturally to Kerri - with over 15 years martial arts experience under her belt, including gold medals at both the 2009 and 2010 European Kuk Sol Won tournaments for sparring, and winning silver in 2011 as well.

Kerri started her boxing training in London in June 2011 with City Warriors White Collar Boxing Federation instructor Gary Stasek. However due to her busy schedule running her Academy for models, and running her own pageants Kerri could not make it to London more than once a month to train with them. So Impact Fightwear and The Kickstop MMA stepped in to help, kindly sponsoring all of Kerri's boxing training in Norwich.

Kerri trains at The Norwich Kickstop MMA 3-4 times a week, with a variety of coaches teaching her boxing and kickboxing for around 3 hours at each session. On top of this Kerri's intense exercise programme also sees her training in Kuk Sol Won, running at least ten miles a week (often she runs double that!) and taking part in Fighters Fitness classes with the professional fighters at Kickstop!

Tickets are now on sale for Kerri's fight in November, starting at just £25 for the evening. Please either purchase your tickets from Kerri directly or buy them through the website (see link on the left) make sure you let us know you are coming to support Kerri so we can get her family, friends, and fans seated together.

With all that training, and professional fighters helping her out - we are hoping she is going to be hard to beat on the night!

Interview

Hey Kerri how is training going? Really well thank you, I am knackered 24/7 but loving it! I train 6 days a week and hate having rest days. The first month was really hard - I could not move my arms at all! My fitness has really improved now though and I've really noticed the difference it has made with my running. I love training in Norwich most days at Kickstop and really enjoy the London sessions with Gary too - sadly I can only get down that way every few weeks to train.

What makes you stand out in the competition? I think my confidence makes me stand out, although my boxing is no where near the level of my other martial arts I am used to sparring and confident in attacking. I have sparred (and won!) against men twice my age, height and size, I've been knocked out, and I know how hard men punch in tournaments! Fighting girls should be easier...!

Do you think your weight is going to be an issue as you are not the typical muscular boxer? I think my weight is an issue, my weight dropped to 8 stone from too much training recently and I can't afford to lose anymore. It means most girls my height have more weight than I do - and so have the ability to throw more of it behind their punches. It just means I have to train twice as hard as them to become better.

Why do you want to win this fight? I'll only go into something if I think I am going to win, as the attitude towards winning or losing is the most important part of preparing for a fight. I've already had massive press attention from this fight and been on news stand billboards - so the pressure is on to win! I also need to show my trainers that all of their hard work has not been for nothing!

What song will you be coming out to? Kanye West 'Stronger' or Lil Wayne and Eminem 'Drop the World'. The latter is quite tough and manly which I like. Everyone's saying to come out to something girly but then I may end up fighting like a girl and that won't be good!

Who in the UK do you most want to knock out? How about the entire cast of Geordie Shore?!

Was it hard going from the martial arts you study to boxing? Yeh it was really hard making the transition. The styles I do mean I am really stiff and can't relax as I fight, and I'm stuck in my stances and habits of other styles! It's also hard to only throw punches when I really want to just kick someone in the head during sparring! It is completely different to all the fighting styles I have ever studied but I love it.

Are you confident you are going to win? Hmmmm it depends on my opponent! I have sparred most of the girls and there are one or two I think could put up a good fight against me. I'll put everything into winning so fingers crossed!

What do you love most about training? The fact I can eat take outs afterwards without feeling too guilty now! I've made loads of great friends through the training at the Kickstop and really enjoy training there most days. I also love watching them fight at cage fight and kickboxing events and the fact my Academy is now supplying the ring girls!

What do you hate most about training? When the guys hit me too hard! I don't mind girls hitting me but the men are really strong and I still end up seeing stars despite the protective head gear. I like hitting them back though!

What is your boxing name going to be? I am being nicknamed 'The Knockout' apparently it has the double meaning! Although it gives me a lot to live up to!

Has it been hard fitting training into your busy modelling schedule? It was hard at first as I am so busy modelling and running the Academy, I jet off to Fiji for the World Supermodel Finals in September as well and preparing for that is taking a lot of my time. Now its become a routine to just train/work/sleep! My social life has gone out of the window a little bit.

Will you keep up boxing after the fight with Maxim? Definately, maybe not 3 or 4 times a week though! I'd love to do a spot of white collar boxing and some matches after my fight with Maxim too...depending on how I get on!
